Senator Mark Warner came forth this Saturday to call on all members of Congress to defend special counsel Robert Mueller, as reports suggest that President Trump’s lawyer is attempting to have Mueller fired.
“Every member of Congress, Republican and Democrat, needs to speak up in defense of the Special Counsel. Now,” Warner wrote in a tweet.
Trump’s personal lawyer, John Dowd, explained to the Daily Beast that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein should put an end to special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russia’s meddling during the 2016 election. He went on to compare Mueller to former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who was suddenly removed Friday night
His remarks follow a day after Attorney General Jeff Sessions dimissed McCabe after an internal watchdog review. Sessions alleged that McCabe had given the media information without authorization and lacked “candor” with a team of investigators.
“I pray that Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation manufactured by McCabe’s boss [former FBI Director] James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier,” Dowd explained to The Daily Beast in a statement, referring to the “Steele dossier” that Republicans say spurned the ongoing Russia investigation.
Dowd informed the Daily Beast that he was speaking as Trump’s counsel but then contrasted his statement by saying he was speaking of his own personal capacity.
