After President Trump’s personal attorney John Dowd resigned last week over frustrations with how Trump was handling special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, Trump had to find new representation to join his legal team, but he’s having trouble getting anyone to say yes.

Two top attorneys, Tom Buchanan and Dan Webb, turned down Trump’s offer to assist his legal team in the Mueller probe.

“President Trump reached out to Dan Webb and Tom Buchanan to provide legal representation,” they said in a statement. “They were unable to take on the representation due to business conflicts. However they consider the opportunity to represent the president to be the highest honor and they sincerely regret that they cannot do so. They wish the president the best and believe he has excellent representation in Ty Cobb and Jay Sekulow.”

Over the weekend, Trump tweeted that “many lawyers and top law firms” wanted to represent him in “the Russia case.”

But with a client notorious for ignoring his counsel, it looks doubtful that anyone would want to work with Trump. When his current lawyers worry that Trump will perjure himself if he talks to Mueller, there won’t be a lot of “top lawyers” wanting to jump into a losing case.
